This popular spice has been used for centuries for its spicy, sweet and musky scent, as well as its antiseptic properties. Cinnamon Leaf is preferred over the Bark or Bud as the latter contains large proportions of cinnamic aldehyde and may cause a severe skin reactions.

The essential oil consists of linalool, benzaldehyde, cinnamic, furfurol, safrole, pinene, among others.

Used in soaps, cosmetics and perfumes, as well as food flavoring for soft drinks and alcoholic drinks.
