Description: Native to China, this slender, evergreen tree is probably better known for its extensive use as a domestic spice. The essential oil is steam distilled from the bark, leaves and twigs. It’s aroma is sweet woody-spicy similar to cinnamon. Cassia, in biblical times was used as an anointing oil.
As an essential oil it should never be used on the skin as it is a known dermal irritant and dermal sensitizer. Used in pharmaceutical applications such as mouthwashes, toothpastes and more. Also used in food flavorings, including alcoholic and soft drinks. The essential oil contains mainly cinnamic aldehyde, as well as methyl eugenol, saliclaldehyde and menthylsalicylaldehyde.
Product Application:
Essential oils should never be applied directly on the skin without diluting properly, usually blending with a carrier oil.
